Brandy is a homegrown “Eastsider.” A graduate of Bellevue High School, she only briefly departed the Northwest to go to college at University of Missouri-Columbia, before returning to Washington. It wasn’t long before she headed out to Spokane, where she obtained her JD from Gonzaga University School of Law in 2001 and then a Masters of Legal Letters in Tax Law (LLM) from University of Washington School of Law in 2002.
When Brandy jumped into county-level felony criminal prosecution in 2002, she wasn’t certain it would be a fit. It soon became clear, however, that the courtroom was never going to be a stranger to her again. After several years in criminal prosecution, however, Brandy turned to family law and focused on assisting those who were suffering and surviving in domestic violence relationships.
At Eastside Legal Assistance Program (“ELAP”), Brandy spent five years rebuilding the legal team, increasing fundraising, and expanding the program to educate new attorneys in the practice of family law through mentorship and a fellowship program. Additionally, Brandy presented several CLEs about domestic violence and family law. By the time she departed ELAP, she had helped hundreds of domestic violence survivors preserve their safety, obtain support for their children, and disentangle themselves from their relationship with their abusers.
Brandy transitioned to private practice in 2015 and, until 2023, served as a Title 26 Guardian ad Litem. Since 2018, she has served on the Domestic and Sexual Violence Committee under the Washington State Supreme Court Gender and Justice Commission. In 2024, Brandy joined the roster of Family Law Court Pro Tem Commissioners for King County Superior Court.
Today, her practice covers a broad spectrum of topics under the umbrella of family law from general divorce to child support and parenting plans to post-decree issues such as enforcement and modifications. Though a skilled litigator unafraid to step foot in the courtroom, it is Brandy’s priority to seek a fair and equitable resolution out of court for her clients whenever possible.
