Our Attorneys

Britney K. Bergen

Transactional Real Estate & Business Lawyer

We’d love to help you buy or sell real property.  Our fees are nominal compared to a real estate broker’s commission, yet we can draft unique language for your transaction and help you resolve all of the legal and title issues that arise.  Real property is often your most valuable asset; we’re here to help protect you and your investment, and make the transaction enjoyable, smooth, and easy to understand.

My practice focuses on real estate, general business, and finance/banking transactional work. My clients range from individuals to small and medium-sized private companies to condominium and homeowner associations. I enjoy helping my clients through challenging times, relieving their stress, and providing efficient, straight-forward legal advice they can trust.

I have a broad real estate practice which includes commercial and residential matters. I help clients buy and sell real property, work through leasing issues, grant or obtain easements, and resolve boundary line disputes. I often draft and negotiate purchase and sale agreements, lease agreements, easement agreements, boundary line adjustments, deeds, covenants, conditions, and restrictions (CC&Rs), bylaws, and rules and regulations. I really enjoy working through title insurance issues and completing real property transactions.

From time to time, I work on earnest money disputes and help my clients resolve other real estate issues without litigation.

My business practice centers on forming limited liability companies and corporations, and helping my clients maintain those entities and keep them in good standing. I’m responsible for all of the corporate maintenance work at Hanson Baker. I help clients buy or sell their ownership interests either by way of a stock (or LLC membership units) purchase and sale agreement or a redemption agreement, and buy or sell company assets. I also draft employment agreements, non-disclosure agreements, LLC operating agreements, shareholders’ agreements, consents to action, and other corporate documents.  I’d love to help your business with its legal needs.

My finance/banking practice includes drafting, reviewing, and interpreting loan documents. I typically represent community banks and other lenders in these matters.

Personal & Professional

I love college football (roll tide) and Formula 1.  When I’m not in the office, I’m usually baking, chasing my toddler around, or planning a home improvement project.

I’m also a member of the Washington State Bar Association, the King County Bar Association, the East King County Bar Association, Mother Attorneys Mentoring Association, CREW Network, and the Master Builders Association (specifically, the Professional Women in Building Council).  I completed the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce New Executives program in 2018.

I have been selected as a 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 Washington Rising Star by Super Lawyers (only 2.5% of attorneys in Washington receive this distinction).
