Britney K. Bergen

Transactional Real Estate & Business Attorney

Whether you’re looking for a longtime trusted advisor or this is the first time you need an attorney, I’m here to help protect you and your interests, and make your business or real estate transaction enjoyable, smooth, and successful.

My practice focuses on real estate, general business, and finance/banking transactional work. My clients range from individuals and families, to private companies and developers, to condominium and homeowner associations. I enjoy getting to know my clients, relieving their stress, and providing efficient, straight-forward legal advice they can trust.  The most important thing though is the quality of my work.

I have a broad real estate practice which includes commercial and residential matters. I help clients buy and sell real property, work through leasing issues, grant or obtain easements, and resolve boundary line disputes. I often draft and negotiate purchase and sale agreements, lease agreements, easement agreements, boundary line adjustments, deeds, and covenants, conditions, and restrictions (CC&Rs). I really enjoy working through title insurance issues and seeing real property transactions from start to finish.  I’d love to act as your real estate general counsel.

From time to time, I work on earnest money disputes and help my clients resolve other real estate issues without litigation.

My business practice centers on business sales, forming limited liability companies and corporations, and helping my clients maintain those entities and keep them in good standing. I’m responsible for all of the corporate maintenance work at Hanson Baker.  I often help clients buy or sell their ownership interests either by way of an assets, stock, or LLC membership units purchase and sale or redemption.  I also draft employment agreements, non-disclosure agreements, LLC operating agreements, shareholders’ agreements, consents to action, and other corporate documents.  I enjoy strategizing and discussing how to meet your objectives and goals.

My finance/banking practice includes drafting, reviewing, and interpreting loan documents. I typically represent lenders in these matters.  As part of this, I also document a lot of loans between family members.

Personal & Professional

I love sports, particularly Formula 1.  My competitive swimming days are behind me, so now I’m focusing on tennis and running.  Most of the time I’m chasing my little boy around or playing with him and his Hot Wheels.

I’m a member of the Washington State Bar Association, the King County Bar Association, the East King County Bar Association, Mother Attorneys Mentoring Association, and the Master Builders Association.

I have been selected as a 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023; Washington Rising Star by Super Lawyers (only 2.5% of eligible lawyers receive this distinction each year).
